Asbestos Management Survey: The purpose of the asbestos management survey is to manage asbestos-containing materials (ACM) during the normal occupation and use of premises including routine maintenance.
Asbestos Management Survey aims to ensure that:
- Asbestos containing materials ACMs are identified within the premises, but does not involve destructive surveying (damage to the building)
- The survey will record the location, position, condition and type of asbestos and a material risk assessment will be produced for each occurrence of asbestos.
- A priority risk assessment is then produced, using the material risk assessment and the use and occupancy of the area/room where the asbestos material is present.
The asbestos management survey will locate asbestos containing materials that could be damaged or disturbed by normal activities or by foreseeable maintenance and involves minor intrusion into the building. Suspected asbestos materials are sampled on site and sent to a UKAS accredited laboratory for analysis. Material Risk Assessment this shows the ability of asbestos containing materials, if disturbed, to release fibres into the air. Priority Risk Assessment It guides the client, in prioritising any remedial work. An example would be an high risk asbestos material in a an area that isn’t used so the priority would be low or a low risk asbestos material in an area of high foot traffic would be an high priority. for remedial works.
