Asbestos cement was commonly used in the construction of garages from the 1930’s to the end of the 1990’s. It can be in the roof (usually corrugated sheets) and in the walls (usually flat panels).
Sampling & laboratory testing of a cement garage will confirm any asbestos content.
Asbestos cement is a very low risk product if kept in good condition and can be safely managed in-situ.
Removal or repairs need to be carried out under controlled conditions and the asbestos cement disposed of as hazardous waste at an appropriate waste facility.
